Since 1995, Amy has been teaching, facilitating, and leading groups with a focus on experiential methods. She has developed a reputation for engaging and motivating her students. Amy has worked with leadership and outdoor programs at Fort Lewis College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of New Hampshire, and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, as well as several private organizations and corporations. Her past research included studying the leadership training methods of students in college outdoor programs and her current research focuses on creativity. She was a faculty member at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado teaching undergraduate courses in experiential education, leadership, social justice, and sea kayaking. She has lived and worked all over the U.S. working with youth, college students, teachers, and corporate clients helping them develop their leadership, creativity, and teambuilding skills.

Comfortable with both the administration and instruction sides of outdoor education, Amy Climer has a strong understanding of program development and risk management issues facing outdoor education programs. Amy is certified as an American Canoe Association kayak and canoe instructor, and has spent more than 300 days in the field on professional overnight trips.  She is a Lead Facilitator for LeaderShape, Inc. and has worked for Semester at Sea traveling around Europe and Russia for 10 weeks with over 500 college students.

In addition to her work in experiential education, Amy Climer spent nearly two years as a professional artist making a living from her creativity and art work. She studied graphic design and photography at Madison Area Technical College and has taken numerous art classes.  She exhibited her fiber art locally and nationally in art and quilt shows, art fairs, and galleries.  She has taught and lectured on fiber art, fabric dyeing, photography, and creativity to both adults and youth.  Her work can be found in several private collections and local galleries.
